Gardening

Some of this was partly to give things a chance to live while we are away for 8 days over Easter:

Planted potatoes - Kestrel, Javelin Pentland and Lady Christl in the ground (7 each) and the leftover Kestrel and Lady Christl in the strawberry pot for comparison.
Planted strawberries taken as runners from Lambourne End in the ground - will transplant them later when I've done some more digging.
Planted cyclamen, pansy and Clematis Sieboldii in the ground, aubretia and dianthus in pots.

Threw out last year's hyacinths, two year old amaryllis, assorted geraniums and seven or eight year old Azalea (pictured) all of which no longer perform. But the geraniums on the front windowsill have overwintered themselves and are blossoming again.

Plum blossom is over but the cherry tree and kerria are in full blossom and there are lots of daffs and narcissi. Tulips are in bud. Hawthorn, hazel, cornus and surviving roses (two are dead) are leafing. Clematis still bare.

I'm not bothering with crocus next year - I put in 60 bulbs and saw about 6 flowers. Other bulbs fare better.

Latin vs common names are a pain!
