Forry has some support for being the first confirmable public use of Sci-Fi as opposed to Scientifiction or any of the other abbreviations
Forrest J. Ackerman publicly used the term "sci-fi" at UCLA in 1954,[13] though Robert A. Heinlein had used it in private correspondence six years earlier.
