Hugo Nominations

I have saved a ballot.

It has 3 novels, 1 Best Related Work, 2 artists, 2 fan artists, 2 fanzines, 2 fan writers. I may update it tomorrow if I have a bit more time to go back over my records for eligible shorter fiction and tv episodes, but if that is the best I can do at least it is done.

Thanks Mancunicon and all the people on-line who reminded me of specifics in good time.

The Hugos mean to me what they have always meant. I nominate, and read or do not read the shortlisted works, for reasons that seem good to me, and not otherwise, and nominate and vote, or not, accordingly.

I have insufficient interest to do anything with the Retro Hugos this year. I really enjoyed and reread Typewriter in the Sky by L. Ron Hubbard when I was about 13, but it's just about the only thing I've seen mentioned anywhere that I actually have an opinion about, so I haven't bothered with a ballot.

Since it's online and easy, I have nominated one short story for the Retro Hugos: Borges's "Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius" was first published in 1940 (in Spanish). This is me saying that it's "best sf of 1940," not "what we think the 1940 voters would have picked."
